Heather S. Cohen (MA, University of Georgia) is a recipient of the 2018 UGA Franklin College-University of Liverpool Doctoral Student Short-Term International Research Fellowship. In the spring of 2018, she will be traveling to Liverpool (under the mentorship of Dr. Laura Soulsby) to conduct research and teach about the importance of communication following the death of a close other in childhood. Her presentation, entitled "Grief Communication Across the Life Course: An Analysis of Psychosocial Indicators and Outcomes", will expand upon her prior work on verbal and nonverbal communication patterns in bereaved youth, and will incorporate additional qualitative, interview data collected in the United Kingdom. Heather noted, "Grief is ongoing, dynamic, and unique to each individual, but is something that everyone will more than likely experience at some point in their lives." As such, she is humbled and honored to have the opportunity to explore this population on a global and cross-cultural level.
