Communication Studies professor Dr. Edward Panetta reviews the presidential debates every four years for the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Dr. Panetta's insights on the September 29 presidential debate have been published as part of an article on the ACJ Political Insider blog.

Communication Studies Department graduate Alec Ream (BA ’88) has recently published his first novel. Alec credits Dr. Cal Logue and the Demosthenian Literary Society with inspiring his rhetoric style.

The National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health recently granted a Career Award (K01) to Dr. Jiaying Liu in the Department of Communication Studies.

The National Communication Association (NCA) Public Address Division has given their 2020 award to Dr. Bjørn Stillion Southard, for his book,  Peculiar Rhetoric: Slavery, Freedom, and the African Colonization Movement (University Press of Mississippi, 2019).
